1. What kind of information do we collect?
Newsletter: email address
Request for information about the programme (usually teachers): full name; email address; school; role; how did you hear about us?
Application form for teachers:
Name
Email address
your subject area(s) and any roles or responsibilities you may have within your school
Describe the challenges faced by your school community related to gender inequality.

Evaluation (students): we do not collect personally identifiable information, for example, name or contact details, about the students. We instead ask teachers to provide a unique code in order to identify students across time. The students answer survey questions before and after the programme including questions on: wellbeing, resilience, confidence, sense of community, aspirations; participation in clubs or extracurricular activities; number of close friends; whether she has a long-term health condition or disability. The teachers also provide some background information: school year, free school meals, English as a second language; family receiving counselling or family support; ethnic group.
2. What do we do with information we collect and what is our legal basis for this?
Newsletter, Request for information about the programme and Application form for teachers: If you sign-up for the Be Her Lead newsletter, request information about the programme or apply to lead the Be Her Lead programme at your school, we will use your personal information to facilitate those activities. Our legal basis for doing this is your consent. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.
Evaluation (students): we use the information to help Be Her Lead evaluate our impact. The legal basis for doing so is consent for students 13 years old and over, and consent by an adult with parental responsibility for those under 13 years old. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.
3. How long will we keep your information for?
General principle: We will only keep any personal information that you provide to us for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which you gave us the information and we will securely delete information when it is no longer needed for that purpose, as explained in more detail below.
Evaluation data shall be reviewed at least every 12 months to consider its continued value to Be Her Lead. It will be kept pseudonymised and stored securely.
4. Who else has access to your information?
We use a third party provider to send our newsletter.
We use a third party provider to measure our impact. Our legal basis for sharing the information is consent for students 13 years old and over, and consent by an adult with parental responsibility for those under 13 years old. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time. Information shared with the third party provider is reasonable and proportionate in that the data is pseudonymised and only data required for the analysis is shared.

We take steps to protect your personal information and follow procedures designed to minimise unauthorised access or disclosure of your information.

You are legally entitled to know what personal information we hold about you and how that information is processed, which includes the right to:

If you wish to know what information we hold about you, or wish to exercise any of your other rights as detailed above, or have any complaint about how we are using your personal information, then please email us using hello@beherlead.com and provide enough information to identify yourself (e.g. name and address or any registration details).
If our information is incorrect or out of date, please provide us with information to update it. If you want us to delete, restrict or stop using any information we hold about you, please explain the reasons why you are asking this. If you are unhappy with how we are using your information, again please explain to us the reasons and we will investigate the matter.

We may change this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes that relate to information we already hold about you, where practicable.
